Loft Conversion

Gable Conversion and Attic Refurbishment
Project Overview
Gable Conversion and attic refurbishment
Having a considerate, sympathetic and minimally intrusive loft conversion were the key aspirations for this project. This property presented a challenge in its existing roof typology, more commonly referred to as a Dutch Gable and ‘Jirkinhead’. The resulting internal spaces from this roof arrangement left the internal spaces wanting and cramped.
The proposal aims to demolish the existing roof structure and introduce a traditional gable. This lends itself to a neater internal arrangement of spaces. A new staircase location allows for a smoother transition between the upper floor circulation spaces and much of the internal loft floor has been reimagined.
